Just so ya know, Clark and I are safe and sound. We’re a little stressed by Irma (okay yea, A LOT stressed) but we’ve done all we can to protect our beloved Sanibel but more importantly… protect ourselves and our kitties. We are sending out hopes of safety for everybody in her path.
Im sorry to say I won’t be responding to any comments or publishing any more posts to conserve our phones in case of emergency for anybody. But just know that I love to read your replies so until this beast called Irma passes and we know Sanibel and our friends are ok, I’ll try to post afterwards. Please
keep Sanibel and everyone in her tracks in your thoughts. Go away Irma!

Glad you all are safe. Praying Irma doesn’t hit as hard as they say.
Live in TX (Amarillo) but have shelled Sanibel four times. The last 2016 Christmas. Heartbroken about Irma. Very worried about the beautiful Chapel by the Sea. Currently watching the “City of Sanibel Traffic Cams”on “mysanibel.us” which makes us feel a little closer and very frightened. Prayers for all affected. Glad you’all are safe. Like everyone, we’re glued to the weather channel as friends lost homes in Rockport. Waiting to hear any news Pam. Take care and be safe.

The Texas Cousins are praying for you both and all of Sanibel. We just experienced the affects of Harvey in Southeast Texas, so we know what you’re going through. Stay safe.

Never posted – but love your blog and your passion for shells and Sanibel! Was supposed to be there this weekend for a mother daughter trip – we both love shelling and have been to Sanibel over the years and sadly had to cancel. Thinking of you and everyone in Irma’s path and praying for the best!
I’ve never posted, but love your blog and passion for Sanibel and shelling! Was sadly supposed to be there this weekend for a mother/daughter trip – we both love shelling and have been to Sanibel over the years and sadly had to cancel. Coming down for 4th time in a little over a month. Hoping for the best. I love Sanibel/Captiva. Prayers for all in the path of Irma.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, fur babies included! My family is on the East Coast of FL and I’m in Colorado so it’s a bit nerve wracking with all the media hype!
Stay safe and let us know how you fair when it’s all passed!!
Pam and family, May God hold you all in the hollow of his hand during this awful time. Take care and be safe.

Keeping Sanibel and the surrounding areas in my heart today, and avidly following weather reports. I vacationed there as a kid, and took my kids there last summer for their first time! During our stay, I used your blog to ID all my finds, and feel a sense of closeness to you!
Praying everyone stays safe, and damage is minimal.
Pam, Thank you for letting us know you are ok. A lot of prayers will be going out to you and all Floridians and especially our beloved island of Sanibel. After Irma had passed please reach out and let us know how we can help in any capacity to rebuild and support Sanibel. With love, Julie and family
I keep thinking about you and Clark! Please stay safe!! Sending prayers that all people & their loved ones will be safe and that homes will be ok! 🙏
Sherri from MN
Pam – I really hope you are not still on the island. We were there last weekend and had a wonderful time. Our thoughts and prayers are constant for our beautiful Sanibel and our beautiful state of Florida. We are holding on in Jupiter and getting ready for hurricane winds. It is hard to believe there is so much destruction and so much more to come.
Be safe wherever you are and I hope to see you again on Sanibel one day soon.

Jupiter Florida
Pam – praying for all our friends on Sanibel and hope you are not still there. We are hanging on in Jupiter and waiting for hurricane winds soon. I hope to see you again on Sanibel one day soon.
Staying safe is what is important. Please take care.
You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers! I believe that I know a little of what you must be going through. I did not evacuate my home in the Corpus Christi area when Hurricane Harvey hit. I have birds and a dog and did not want to go into a shelter. We did not have power for 5 days and it was hard dealing with the heat and humidity. Please stay safe!
Thinking a lot about you all on the islands. From 1961-1969 my family would live out of an airstream travel trailer, in the Periwinkle Trailer Park, for about 6 weeks every winter (we live in west central Indiana). I was 1-8 years old at that time. Haven’t been back since a one day visit in 1975. Many fond memories of Sanibel. Stay safe!
I found your site before visiting Sanibel this summer. I absolutely fell in love with the island & enjoy how your posts give me a glimpse back there. Praying you are all safe during the hurricane, looking forward to an update.
Just stay safe, take no chances . Love to your kitties. What they are showing don’t look too bad yet
Love Sanibel. We usually stay at Island Inn. Mother’s Day my daughter Kimberly and Michael gifted Jim and I with a long weekend on Sanibel in a condo we all shared. Had not been there in May before. It was perfect. I pray for all the people and animals of all types there. May you all be safe.
Sanibel holds a special place in my heart. Supposed to be heading down in 2 weeks 😢
have many family and friends everywhere in Miami, Naples, Tampa and Orlando. Keeping you Pam, your family and mine in my prayers that all will come through safe. Still leaving this week to move permanently to the Orlando area. Am impressed by the level of preparedness and the resilience of all Floridians. Still a beautiful state. See you all soon.
Thank you for the post, Pam. I have been worried about you and Clark and your kitties. I hope everything stays good after the storm has been there and gone. When I lived there but on the east coast we had 3 hurricanes in just over a month. I was trying to pack my house up to move back up here to Indiana but I couldn’t stay home long enough to do it. Well I finally got it done and came back here in Oct. 2004.
I am coming to Sanibel Island in October and can’t wait to meet you. I already reserved 2 spots on the cruise to Cayo Costa on the 24th. I hope you and Clark and the kitties are ok today. Thanks again for the post and I will continue praying for all of you.
Thanks for the update It’s really lovely how shellers have become family and all look out for each other even though many of us have only met online. Sending prayers for all of FL. Best wishes always and keep us updated as you can.
So glad you are safe. I’ve watched so many of your videos, I feel like I know you. We were supposed to fly down on the 20th for a week at Sundial. Not sure if that can happen now. If not, then at a later date. Save me some shells. LOL Prayers for you and everyone else at the mercy of Irma.
Hi Pam – you and yours have been in my prayers.
I have been praying a lot for my friends, family and wildlife in FL. I’m glad you and Clark are ok and I look forward to you posting again! I hope to get down to Sanibel before this year is out. See you then. 😊
Dear Pam and Clark,
Keep safe, and know you and all our friends on Sanibel are in our prayers. Give us an update when you can. We look forward to joining one of your trips in February. our love Suzi and Brendan
Prayers for you and your family! Never been to sanibel but would love to come.
We are so glad that beautiful Sanibel made it. We are also glad that most of the people in Sanibel have homes to go home to! God is good!!! Our prayers have been answered. This storm could have been so much worse for the state of FL. Things like this should make everyone thankful for the blessing we have in our lives.

In Houston, sending thanks to the universe that two special people, Pam and Clark, are safe and are wrapped in such caring thoughts from all over the country. Pam, I have spent days rescuing whatever possessions may still be ok in my 90-year-old mother’s house that was flooded with 3′ of water. And yet, I am so grateful that she is safe and her feet are dry thanks to the caring of Texans. So here is a Texan sending you and Clark and kits warm, DRY wishes from The Lone Star State. See you soon on the beach.
Hello Pam,
just watched the video you posted with my Mom and it had us both in tears. My Mom, Sister Isabella, and myself have had a trip to Sanibel Island planned for months now from September 21 to the 24 (In a week!). Isabella and I planned this trip for our Mom for her 60th birthday! The reason we picked Sanibel is because of the shells, we are shell CRAZY! We are mermaids from the Jersey Shore and after Sandy hit our shelling has never been the same. Now we are worried after Irma there won’t be any shells! I would love to surprise my Mom with a shelling adventure with you if by any chance you are free. Please let me know if this is possible or if you can tell me any must see shelling beaches. Thank you Pam!
Love,
Andrea (a.akhtar201@gmail.com)
Pam, I’m Pattie Alford, St. Simons Island, Ga. We were hit by Irma pretty hard as we were on the east side of her as she creeped up Fla. I stayed and live on the marsh. I still find myself tearing right out of the blue. Interestingly, I didn’t find many shells but did find intact angel wings. Odd. Maybe blessed.
So glad to hear all is safe
You can get what you need a little at a time but your life is so precious, thank GOD for that.
