It’s snowing on Sanibel! Well…. maybe not that typical cold stuff but it sure looks like a snow blizzard to me.
It was like the movie “The Birds” for a minute or two while SS Kelly, her daughter Brianne and I were walking the beach when billions of birds crowded the beach. Brianne took the first brave steps to clear the path…
They weren’t afraid of anybody, they were hanging out on the beach just like we were…waiting for some shell action.
Then Kelly caught one! LOL No, no, no… Just kidding. She was getting out her video camera so I took a picture of her. That SANDWICH TERN looks like it is in her hand!
Take a look at the very cool video Kelly took of these “Snow Birds”…
I am counting the days……as of today: 28 more and I will be joining these birds waiting for that perfect shell! reading your posts helps the days go faster! I can almost smell the air………….
Are you going for the Shellabration? I am! And I can hardly wait!
This is SO much better than the snow in Toronto, Ontario!!! Can’t wait to visit Sanibel.
so fun! posted it on our Facebook page today!
Gonna be there the 10th – 12th… can’t wait!!!
So glad there’s a new post for a new month! Helloooo Feb.! I bet this was an awesome experience! Y’all get to see the most amazing things!
The birds were waiting for some “shell action” ….. I couldn’t stop laughing!
Please become independently wealthy so that I can go shelling every day!
Your inner Beach Bum
Ha – I have to agree with Trish in Toronto- this kind of snow I can handle. Ottawa has tons of snow right now. 28 more sleeps for me too – then I turn in to a “Two Week SnowBird ” :)
Love your posts – and yes – I can almost smell the same air as Nan ….
I love the birds. While we were there in Oct, the very first morning, my brother and I had just gotten set up on the beach and were watching the birds (no where near that many) They kept flying closer and closer and then it happened…yep…I got pooped on. Even so, I still love me some shore birds. LOL
That is a sign of good luck!
Will be there in 3 days! I cannot wait
What neat images you captured of the birds! Beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
I bet it was hard to walk around all of that in your barefeet without stepping in bird doo!!!
Also counting the days – 20 to be exact….can’t wait!
Pam, your blog keeps me sane when I’m not on Sanibel! PLEASE don’t ever stop!
Wow, you’ve been flocked–isn’t that the critter version of phooning and planking?
In the photo where Kelly caught one, it looks like one bird is homing in on her to give her an old-fashioned barnyard flopping for “catching” the other one.
Every day really is a new adventure on Sanibel. Thanks for sharing.
We are here! Your 4 Shelling Sisters! Ginger, Martha, Janet and Lois. We will have your hats and shirts on.
Please come visit us at Blind Pass tmrw Sanibel side in front of Castaways.
Are the dredging barges coming to Blind Pass? We saw 2 today at Bowman’s Beach heading that way. Love to Talk with you!
what’s up with that? what causes all those birds to “gather” on the beach like that? just wondering!!
How cool! Thanks for sharing.
