When shellers get together at Shellabaloo, incredishell things happen.
Seashell creativity gets shellsational!
Shellers turn into Michelanshello…
Leonardo Di Vinshell…
And Shellgar Degas…
Our Shellabaloo Shell ‘N Tell at Island Inn turned into a shellorama of artistic fun! Let me re-introduce you to the arteeeests.
John captured his masterpiece with a palette of seascape undertones…
Carol shared her shell perspective with an esthetic splash of color with a mixed media using orchids and butterfly ALTERNATE TELLINS…
Malgorzata’s avant-garde creation illustrated the many possibilities of collecting miniatures…
The Texas sisters Lisa, Sunnye and Suzanne shared an assemblage of shell variants in their gallery of abstracts…
Iron Man Bill chose to compose his canvas with his minimalist perspective from shelling while water snorkeling. (Oh and btw, -stepping out of the silly “artsy” language for a minute- he truly is a competitive Iron Man- wow!)
Cindy’s three- dimensional masterpiece exhibited blended lifelike designs…
Suzi’s impressionistic style set off by brilliant pigments, designed a collage of remarkable beauty.
Didn’t you enjoy the Shellabaloo Shellartist Gallery? LOL
On our last night together after drooling over all of the amazing shell displays, we had a Shellabaloo prize! This stunning Sanibel Island Junonia necklace from Sealife By Congress is the perfect keepsake for Sanibel shellers so it was a perfect piece for remembering Shellabaloo. I wear mine every day!
Suzanne was the lucky winner of the Sealife By Congress necklace! Congratshellations Suzanne!
Our time together was priceless.
We collected lots of shells and memories together.
Four perfect days…
to the last perfect sunset at the Island Inn Beachfront Resort.
Clark and I thank each of these amazing people for joining us!

Our Sanibel Shellabaloo shelling adventure this week was fabulous! As I’ve said before… shellers are the nicest folks in the world. This was proved one more time as our spectacular group gathered together on the beachfront of the Island Inn to meet each other to spend 4 days collecting seashells and sharing our lives with each other.
Suzi came from England to join us for our exshellent adventure to find beautiful shells and soak up the beautiful sunshine.
Each day we shelled the beach at Island Inn then tried the other beaches of Sanibel like Gulfside City Park and Lighthouse Beach.
Carol from Connecticut had the best luck at Gulfside City Beach finding the mini shells.
Malgorzata from New Jersey, Cindy from Michigan (right) and I hit a mini honey hole so we shellebrated by taking a selfie… errrr… or should I say “shellfie”. heehee
John joined us from Tennessee as he charmed our group with his southern style. And btw, he designed that beeeeauteeeful shell display in the first photo. Gorgeous!
He found such a variety of shells from a double JEWELBOX to OLIVES to a WHITE CRESTED TELLIN.
Talking about southern charm… we had three Texas sisters join us. Lisa, Sonnye and Suzanne have been shelling most of their lives and coming to Sanibel for almost 30 years. We loved hearing their history of shelling the island and other places in the world.
Of course we took a Captiva Cruise to Cayo Costa!
Cindy’s husband Bill took advantage of the crystal clear water to snorkel for shells.
He found a nice size LIGHTNING WHELK!
Clark went on the trip with us too and found a huge KINGS CROWN… but then realized it had a HERMIT CRAB occupying the shell so put it back in the water.
Some of us were lucky to see a MANATEE leisurely swam by to say hi.
I think the most fun we all had was sharing discoveries with each other…
I love sharing our meals together but I think my favorite was “FroYo” at Zebra Frozen Yogurt!
There is still more to come for more shell photos and you’ll get to meet the Shellabalooers a little more on my next post… so stay tuned!
I found a sweet small SCOTCH BONNET yesterday morning at Blind Pass! After I let out a little shellebratory squeal, Michael and Kurry (NJ) came over to see what caused all my fuss.
Kurry showed me she found a SCOTCH BONNET too!
After I we talked and compared SCOTCH BONNETS, I took a photo of the newly formed beach on the pass side of the jetty rocks of Blind Pass Captiva to show where I found my shell. It doesn’t look like too much there, right? I found it high on the beach in a very thin tide line. You can see the small shell lines on the beach I combed through…but notice Kurry shelling in the surf line on the left.
She reached in the water right there and pulled out another SCOTCH BONNET! She came running back to show me… Shellzam! Two of them!
This is not exactly how I found my SCOTCH BONNET because I snatched it up so quickly, I didn’t have time to take a photo. But… this is the area that I found it in and I almost missed it. It may look obvious now, but if I was walking fast, I think I would have missed it. Wanna do some CYBERSHELLING? Click on this next photo to enlarge it…
Oh but wait… There’s so much more being found! Since the beach renourishment last month on Sanibel and Captiva, I’ve never seen so many JUNONIAS being found in one week at Blind Pass. My friend Dave found a JUNONIA on the Sanibel side!
Mary from New York found a JUNONIA too in the same area…
Carolyn (Manatoba) found a JUNONIA at Blind Pass too! Wow! Congrats to y’all!
I have even more exciting news for all of you!
