We had a shell of a good time every single minute this week during the SHELLABALOO starting at the Island Inn!! It was an unbelievable shellapalooza! The weather was gorgeous with the DOLPHINS coming out to greet us.
The shelling was terrific.
The meals were outstanding.
But most of all, my new fabulous friends were an absolute joy to be with and an amazing group to share our love for shelling together. Honestly, I haven’t come down from the high I felt while bonding with each and every one of these awesome shellers. So I have to introduce each one to you before we get to the rest of our shelladventure.
Of course you already met Joe and Patty from my last post (CLICK HERE to see) because of Joe’s macdaddy find of the LONG-SPINED STAR SHELL…
Sally and Jim from Atlanta who I met 2 years ago in Captiva, joined us…
Along with Traci and Rob from Virginia…
Maureen from California…
Mike and Carolyn from Richmond, VA…
Amy from California…
Pat and Steve from Tennessee…
JoAnn and Sid from Vermont…
Arabelle from New York…
Sara and Dan from Tampa, FL…
And the Carolina gals Kathy, Helen, Karen and Jackie with their Carolina gentleman Bill…
See? An unbelievable group of folks enjoying every aspect of the world of shelling.
which always involves sharing…
Now that you’ve met this awesome group of shellers, tomorrow I’ll show you some of the cool shells and BEACH BLING they found! Fun! Fun! Fun!!!
Oh but wait…. if you are in the Sanibel area, tomorrow’s negative low tide (-1.1) is in the morning around 7am. That is a really low tide! That means so much more of the beach will be exposed to make it easier to spot more shells. You’ll even get to see what live mollusks look like. Just make sure you leave any live shell where you found it. We want them to breed so they make more beautiful seashells so we can enjoy them forever!
I would have LOVED to have been there with you all. Tell us that this will become a regular event, please!!!
I also would have loved to attend ! I’m saving for next years event so Pam has to repeat it for sure !! She will have to expand the # attending I’m sure so I volunteer to assist!!
Am dying to see what everybody found!
I LIVE here and want to go!!! Please, pretty please, Pam…make this an ANNUAL event!!!? puuuhhhhllleaseee!!!?
Fantastic! So nice to see so many happy faces! :)
Sounds like you all had a fabulous time! Sure wish I could have joined you!
Hi, Looks like you are having a good time. Do you or have you taken photos of the live mollusks? I work with kids and so many of them have no idea what makes seashells. They always say hermit crabs.
Ohhhhh! I can so imagine a child saying that. I also love watching the little live olives and other sea life just as much as I enjoy finding a great empty shell and I am, well, in my forties. :-)
I will so try to make it next year!
I can send you an extra whelk casing, dried with babies to teach the children if you want?
Email is : firstname.lastname@example.org
See Pam’s blog on Whelk casings, it’s awesome.
The casings are from CT shoreline.

Looks like a lovely group that had a wonderful time bonding and shelling together. Congrats on the success of the first of many “outings”. Tomorrow’s low tide will provide you with alot to share with us on the blog! Can’t wait! Like the bumper sticker I bought on Sanibel says “GO TO SHELL” !
I really hope to be able to make one of these Shellabaloo’s. It looked like such a good time and what an awesome opportunity for the shellers to get to meet and bond with each other. My sweet friend Traci was there and I know she loved it.
