Creepy Crawly Fiddler Crab Video Posted by pam | Oct 29, 2011 | Fiddler Crab, Invasion of the Fiddler Crabs | 26 Watch out! There’s an Invasion Of The FIDDLER CRABS on Sanibel’s out-islands! Share:
we didnt have fiddler but we had ghost in Naples toooo funnyi have a video lol
Run for your lives!!!!! LOL!!!!
What’s that all about? Are they always like that? Ewwwwwwww!
That is truly amazing. How creepy. I wouldn’t want to confront them on the beach. I met up with bonnet head shark in the shallows at Sanibel about a month ago (he was about 10 feet away). I think it was less scary than a mass of fiddler crabs would be.
I hope their gone by the time I get there!!
Oh my, where is this exactly? I want to avoid it. I was going shelling in the morning, maybe not!! LOL
Hmmmm…mating season? Mass migration? Are they edible? They look like they are headed for the water! Very curious. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Oh, my goodness! What a wonderful video, complete with perfect music. Wish I could see this in person!
Yes, the music IS perfect and the video is perfect for halloween!
funny! So WHY so many? Am I mistaken or are they moving from land towards the water?
They were moving back and forth across the beach and then I started herding them, it was very funny.
Cute video – that is a lot of crabs!!
Were you at Cayo Costa? I saw them there like this one year! Very cool!! I think they are pretty! Love the purple on them! Sherri from MN
Bravo…well done…perfect Halloween video…awesome and creepy all at once.
I just stumbled upon your website and I’m in complete awe of the wealth of information, and fun stuff. I’ve been going to Sanibel for 25 years, and would love to live there at some point.
Thank you so much for this treasure. The photo’s of shells and wildlife are exceptional, much better than any of the many books I’ve purchased over the years.
Have you ever considered adding an oddity section? Over the years, I’ve found some very stange things on the beach that I couldn’t identify. A couple of times I tried to get some help at the Bailey Shell Museum, but had no luck, but I only got to ask volunteers. It might be a fun catagory, not that you need any more work. I’m sure you already spend a lot of time on this site.
Also, I didn’t see a photo of otters in your wildlife section. My husband got a few shots of otters at play a couple of months ago. They were on a path in Bailey’s Tract. I’m so bummed that I missed it. I guess there are advantages to being there in the quiet season! We’re usually there end of March/early April when there are a lot more people. Anyway, I could download a photo if you’re interested.
I hope you continue with this site for many years to come – I love it!
Sanibelle, thank you for you sweet words about my blog!! I just added the “Sea Life and Beach Bling” page to catch all of the other life and oddities that are found on our beaches that I have run across. It’s a work in progress so not everything is on there yet. I am adding as I see these things on the beach and around the islands so as much as I’d love the photo of the otters, I want to find them myself so I can write a post about them. Thank you for the idea, I will be on the lookout so I can add them to my posts. Thank you!
So cool, I would love to see that in person…thanks for the video. The purple color is awesome too!!!
Just love the colors you can find on fiddler crabs. :) Thanks for the photo (I can’t see the video but love the photo).
Leah, Is there something wrong with link? Is that why you cant see the vid? Is it something I need to fix on my end?
I was able to view it so I don’t think it’s on your end.
Love this video! It’s perfect for my daughter on Halloween as she is so terrified of crabs – even little ones – and she”s 35! Not that age has anything to do with fear….she was just on the island and was facinated by the ghost crabs, but she kept her distance. Anxious to see what she’ll say about these. Thanks for sharing just in time for the spooky night!
Do you have any suggestinos for catching fiddler crabs during march?
Run fast lol
