Fred (New Jersey)

I met avid sheller Fred this morning and he told me that he found 4 (wow!) JUNONIAS last year. He’s been coming to Sanibel to spend October and November for 20 years. Today he found an ALPHABET CONE and a FLORIDA CONE. Yesterday he found 3 ANGEL WINGS and several TRUE TULIPS ( the red ones)! Not a bad couple of days on the beach, Fred.

I found a gorgeous dark orange HORSE CONCH about 4 inches this morning in the low tide…but he was alive.  I Also found  several other nice larger LIGHTENING WHELKS but they were alive too. But the shell piles from yesterday weren’t too picked over to still find some good stuff. My favorite finds today were 2 little orange HORSIE CONCHS- or as we like to call them….. candy corns. I still need to pick up the pace a little if I want to compete with Fred, huh?
