Any time we combine shells…
with low tide…
with a beautiful uninhabited beach…
with awesome shellers on an iLoveShelling cruise with Sight Sea-R Cruises… it’s a blast!
Along with our Shellabaloo folks I introduced you to on my last post, it was so much fun for everybody on our cruise on Wednesday who was anywhere around Stana from Illinois to see her overwhelmed excitement when she found a huge empty LIGHTNING WHELK after arriving on Big Hickory Island. It was so much fun to meet you and to see your enthusiasm. We talked about how to clean a shell like that but to make it easier, here is the link for the tutorial I told you about… CLICK HERE. Congratshellations Stana!
It was also such a treat to have seasoned shellers Peg, Dave (Ohio), Karen and Warren (Sanibel) on our shelling trip…
These are just a few of their fave shells they found.
Mary and Amy (Ohio) were on an ANGEL WING hunt…
I’d say they were very successful, wouldn’t you?
Ahhhh… it was such a pleasure to meet cutie shellootie family Diana, Charles, Steve and Katey (from Ohio as well- hmmmm-lots of shellers from Ohio)
Their family CONE count was at 7 but I think Charles found most of them- he definitely has a great shellers eye!
Look who else joined us! Shelling Sister Muriel with her husband Ted. They both warm my heart.
Muriel loves those JINGLE SHELLS about as much as I do.
Some of you might know “r.g. stein” from some of his comments here on iLoveShelling.com… he was on our shell trip too. It was so edshellcational for some of the other shellers to see this huge live HORSE CONCH he found in the water. He shared the sight then placed it gently back in the water where he found it. Thanks for your gifts r.g..
Visiting from Iowa, Brent and Pam (you can imagine why I’m a little partial to her- heehee) displayed their shells on a blue jacket so they look like gorgeous jewelry on velvet. Love your shellicious sea gems! Their shells are the ones in the featured first photo.
Sweet Lynn from Tennessee was happy to collect a BABY’S EAR shell on the trip.
Mindy and Nancy (Pennsylvania) had so much to share on the trip and also got so much in return… look at that bag-o-shells!
It’s always fun to see the different types of shells that different people see and collect.
It was such a fun and successful shelling trip on the Sight Sight-R with many treasures…
With spectacsheller people and shellicious sea gems.

We had a shellucky boat trip shelling adventure yesterday! On each iLoveShelling cruise, every person gets to choose a shell and a bumper sticker out of my very large bucket-o-shells (collected by either Clark or me) to get the day started with at least one shell in your pocket for good luck. It’s the Shellucky Shell… and it works! The forecast for our shelling adventure on Sight Sea-R Cruises out of Fort Myers Beach yesterday was stormy skies and rain so I thought we were going to get rained out… but then…
The rain stopped,
The skies turned blue,
The sun started shining
On our iLoveShelling cruise.
Yay! Not only did we have clear skies… we found lots of shells!
And not only did we have a sunny day finding seashells… we got to hang out with other fabshellous shellers like Ralph, Sharlotte, Beryle, Mitchell and Susie from Texas.
And the shellastic California girls!
Did I mention we had a great day finding shells?
As I said, our day started a little iffy with the weather but then everything turned out shelltastic. Barry (from the east coast of Florida) had a pretty iffy morning even after the skies cleared up. When we got to the island he headed straight to the water, did a few stoops to pick up a few treasures then realized… his iPhone had fallen out of his top pocket. Ack! I saw he had a sick look on his face so he told me what happened… he couldn’t find his phone. My first thought was…. call in the troops! We’ve got a boat load of shellers who looooove to find “things”! So I shouted an announcement down the beach “Everybody look for a lost iPhone!” I don’t normally shout on the beach but we were the only ones on this beach and I felt like I was with family already… so I figured, why not? Two minutes later, snorkelers Jen and Dwayne found Barry’s phone in the water and held it up like they had just found a JUNONIA. Weeehooo! I love hanging out with shellers- such kind people. Seriously.
I took this photo of Dwayne snorkeling just moments before I talked to Barry. Its weird how things work… if either Barry or I had waited one more minute to tell other people to look for the phone, Dwayne wouldn’t have been in that exact spot where he found his biggest find of the day. Good eye, Dwayne, good eye!
What else did Dwayne and Jen find snorkeling? This is just a small sampling of all of their loot. They had two bags full of awesome stuff.
Guess who else was on the cruise… Conne from Shellabaloo 4. Not only was I happy to see her, I was so happy for her that she found an ALPHABET CONE. Such a cutie.
Barry’s wife Alex found an ALPHABET CONE too. She didn’t let anything stop her from having a great time!
Canadians Marilyn and Ted were having luck finding WORM SHELLS, ROSE PETAL TELLINS, SAND DOLLARS and a few SEA PEARLS too.
I think everybody came home with some lovely treasures.
Speaking of lovely treasures, everybody on this iLoveShelling cruise received one more lucky gift… a $25 gift certificate to Sealife By Congress jewelry store on Sanibel. On each iLoveShelling cruise through February, each sheller will receive one too- Wow!
I thank you Sealife By Congress and these folks thank you too… like Jude and Chris from NY
Karen from Maine…
And Mariann and Bruce from Ohio…
We all shared a wonderful day with so many gifts….
Finding treasures by the sea.

Welcome to paradise! Yes, we definitely had a paradise cruise yesterday as we boated from Salty Sam’s Marina on the Sight Sea-R boat through Estero Bay to Big Hickory island for a very happy shelling party. We had a gorgeous day for our iLoveShelling cruise!
We had calm clear water perfect for Jerry to practice his snorkeling.
Perfect for combing the beach.
Perfect for sightseeing. We were so fortunate to see MANATEES, DOLPHINS and all kinds of birds … especially several bright pink ROSEATE SPOONBILLS.
Perfect for finding shells- Look at all of these WORM SHELLS Nancy found!
But the best part of our whole shelling trip was hanging out with so many fun shellers. Seriously, it was a blast! Joe and Joanne from Las Vegas found ALPHABET CONES, ROSE PETAL TELLINS and other shells … but do you notice Joe’s shirt? Omigosh!
Yes, you read it correctly. LOL It says… ” I Heart Pam Rambo (and Super Sheller Clark too)”. Joanne made tee shirts for this shelling cruise and shaped a scallop shell into a heart!!!! hahahaha And she also made one for me (which felt that much funnier with me wearing a tee shirt with my name on it). I am not kidding, I can’t stop laughing. I’m still in stitches! They are so stinkin fun, they even had a tee shirt made for Clark too. Do you think he’ll wear it? LOL
But that’s not all… the whole day was so much fun. Diane From Tucson was on the cruise too! She is just as cute as a BUTTON SHELL and makes every moment feel very special when you are around her. Thank you Diane!
Jerry and Livy (KY) found some shells (SHARKS EYE, ANGEL WINGS, SAND DOLLARS) to fill their bags but it was priceless to see Jerry snorkeling the whole time enjoying the water.
Locals June and Colton were finding lots of WORM SHELLS, ROSE PETAL TELLINS and ANGEL WINGS for the first time.
Colton was the OLIVE and SAND DOLLAR king!
The first shell of the day for Cheryl from Puerto Rico was a beautiful LIGHTNING WHELK with a perfect heart shape cut into it. Love!
Cheri and Mike from Saint Louis found oodles of different varieties of shells.
These are just a few of their fave shells including yellow, orange, white, gray, amber and black JINGLE SHELLS, ROSE PETAL TELLINS and lots of wormies.
Cathy (IL) and Sue (Sanibel local!) found some new shells for their collection….
… Like VARIABLE WORM SHELL, BROAD PAPER COCKLE, MOSSY ARK and a TURRID.
Tom was teaching me a little more about all the birds we saw as we were on the boat but Nancy is the awesome sheller. She found all of those WORM SHELLS in the sixth photo.
She also found so many other varieties of beautiful shells like several GAUDY NATICAS, NUTMEGS, SHARKS EYES, CONCHS, WHELKS, MUREXES and some gorgeous pieces of CORAL.
Also with all that fun, Sealife By Congress generously gave everybody on the boat a $25 gift certificate for a seashell pendant. They love shellers and will continue the giveaway for iLoveShelling cruises through February- WOW! Thank you Sealife By Congress!
But wait, that’s not it… After our exshellent four hour cruise pulled up to the dock, I realized I was famished. Since I didn’t have anything else scheduled for the day (very unusual), I asked if anybody else happened to be staying for lunch at Parrot Key Caribbean Grill right there at the marina. Yes! Joe, Joanne, Diane, Livy, Jerry and I got a table together and continued our shellebration with a shellicious lunch. It was truly a special day.
I hope you get to join us for one of these spectacsheller adventures in the future. Check out the dates and reserve your spot now CLICK HERE…
Shellzam! Brenda from Indiana found an empty, big, beautiful LIGHTNING WHELK on our iLoveShelling Sight Sea-R cruise to Big Hickory Island today. Wow!
Cuties Rachel and Danielle helped her shellebrate while feeling happy with their finds too on this fabshellous adventure. So fun!
It was a fun and gorgeous morning pulling up to this small island sand bar at low tide.
Emily and Lily from Kentucky found SAND DOLLARS, shells and some cool bling…
Jessica (NY) found a nice size ALPHABET CONE, SHARKS EYES, ROSE PETAL TELLINS and lots of WORMS SHELLS and her mom Kathy found a very cool ROSEATE SPOONBILL feather in the wrack line.
Dima and Amy (MI) found some beauties!
Kelsea and Lori from South Carolina showed me their fave finds which included that cool BRYOZOAN COLONY, LACE MUREX, an awesome dark twisty WORM SHELL, GAUDY NATICA, WHITE CRESTED TELLIN and ROSE PETAL TELLINS.
Kim and Jon from St Louis showed me their faves too… a sweet baby ALPHABET CONE, a gorgeous FLAT SCALLOP, SUNRAY VENUS, ROSE PETAL TELLINS and wormies.
Leah, Julianna, June (MD) and Gramma Diane (NJ) found most of their shells in a little honey hole in the water. Way to go girls!
On the way to the island, we saw ROSEATE SPOONBILLS, STINGRAYS and DOLPHINS as I chose a winner for the Sealife By Congress sterling silver sand dollar pendant giveaway. Congratshellations Mackenzie! It was such a pleasure to meet you and your mom Tammi and your sister Peyton.
Everybody else on the cruise was happy too. They received a $25 certificate towards a jewelry piece of their own. Yay! Thank you Sealife By Congress– thats so nice!
I think everybody on the cruise found ROSE PETAL TELLINS and CORAL.
And everybody found WORMIES!
First Mate Meg even shelled for 5 minutes and found a BEACH BLING “Sea Hero” that guarded some of her other finds. cute!
Oh and Ingrid (from my last post) joined us as well and showed us her JUNONIA she found in front of the Island Inn on Sanibel yesterday. Boom Shellalaka!
We were so lucky to have a beautiful warm sunny day to spend 4 hours hanging out and shelling together.
I am so happy to announce that starting in August, Sight Sea-R Cruises has changed the hours for their regular shelling cruises EVERY Wednesday to go from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm (instead of leaving at 10am). Spectacsheller! So our iLoveShelling Sight Sea- R shelling cruises will be the same.
I love my new necklace I made out of a DOSINIA sea shell and a sterling silver SAND DOLLAR charm from Sealife by Congress jewelry store. I found this DOSINIA which already had a natural hole drilled in it (from a SHARK’S EYE- remember that post I did last month? CLICK HERE) so it was screaming for me to make it into a pendant.
I was so excited to receive one of these ever so sweet charms for our i Love Shelling shelling adventure on Tuesday’s Maiden Voyage on Sight Sea-R Cruises, I knew I wanted to wear it for that special occasion cruise. And you can have one too!
Yep, I have very big news for you. On every scheduled iLoveShelling cruise on the Sight Sea-R Cruises and iLoveShelling cruises on Captiva Cruises, Our friends at Sealife by Congress will be giving one sealife pendant to one lucky sheller! But hold on to your shelling hat- thats not all. Each passenger on an iLoveShelling cruise will also receive a gift certificate for $25 to the Sealife By Congress store! Oh yes, you will! Is that amazing or what? Sealife by Congress loves shelling too!
So you can be as happy as everybody on our iLoveShelling Maiden Voyage Sight Sea-R cruise…
When I showed off how I embellished my shell with my charm, Mary with Sealife by Congress told everybody if they found a shell they wanted to put their charm on, they could bring it to the store and they would put it on for them. I went in the store yesterday to thank them again for being so generous with the gifts and guess who I ran into… Pam and Pat from Texas (the “cutie cousins” I showed on my last post)! They were getting their charms put on necklaces.
Pam was very lucky to have picked out the JUNONIA charm- ooooo…I love this one. On our shelling cruise, she found a pretty COCKLE shell with a perfect hole to take in the store to have her JUNONIA charm added to her necklace. Such a wonderful memory! If you are on Sanibel, Captiva or in SW Florida stop and see them in Periwinkle Place on Sanibel- they are very “sheller- friendly”!
So along with finding seashell treasures on iLoveShelling cruises, you will find jewelry treasures as well.
I never got to show you all of the other photos from our Shelltastic Sight Sea-R Cruise. It was such a special afternoon with perfect weather, fabulous birding, amazing sealife sightings, a gorgeous sunset, and we all got to hang out with the nicest shellers in the world on a brand new 50 foot Cooper Pontoon boat (with a bar)…
And do some exshellent shelling.
So don’t forget to reserve your spot for any iLoveShelling Cruise on Sight Sea-R Cruises and also on iLoveShelling cruises with Captiva Cruises to have a shelltastic shelling cruise with me plus receive $25 off any Sealife by Congress jewelry. Our first iLoveShelling Sight Sea-R Cruise was even better than I could ever even imagined! This brand new Sight Sea-R boat proved to be the absolutely perfect shelling excursion with plenty of room to take our 48 amazing shellers to this new shelling destination only accessible by boat… Big Hickory Island.
Not only is the island filled with our favorite treasures (shells, of course)….
We kicked this shelling adventure off with lots of other goodies too. Giveaways! Clark and I brought a big bucket of Sanibel Six shells so everybody could pick out a lucky shell to get things started. Then we treated everybody to iLoveShelling waterproof Seashell Identification guides, bumper stickers and had raffle prizes for hats and tee shirts. So. Much. Fun.
Our biggest surprise was from Mary and Jana of Sealife By Congress– my fave jewelry store. You won’t believe it, they gave every single person on this cruise a sterling silver sealife charm. Seriously. They came on the boat with large baskets filled with beautiful pieces of jewelry and let us all pick our gift of hand made sterling silver dolphin, starfish, sand dollars, scallops and yes… even junonia charms. So sweet!
Texas cutie cousins Pat, Pam, Kay, Peggy, Debby and Linda were thrilled to all receive such a gracious gift of jewelry. Thank you Sealife By Congress!
Let me tell you… this boat turned into a parrrr-taayyy!
So to top it off, on the boat ride to the island we spotted lots of different wildlife. There were dozens of species of birds but we were most excited about seeing many ROSEATE SPOONBILLS…
We also saw a rare sighting of a SEA TURTLE popping out of the water and we also witnessed countless pods of BOTTLENOSE DOLPHIN.
This was already so much fun and we hadn’t even starting shelling yet. But I was soooo ready… especially since I saw Holly had made a special shell bucket for herself with “My Shell Holl” on it- heehee. She also made one for her husband Ted that said “Collect-Ted Shells” and she made one for me with “My Pamtastic Shells”. OMG So stinkin cute.
We were all ready to hit the beach to find shells. And we did! Sandy from Fort Myers Beach’s newspaper The Island Sand Paper found some awesome shells to make her smile. Go back and take a look at the second photo from the top, those are her shells- See? Awesome.
We couldn’t believe how many WORM SHELLS we all found…
And lots of SHARK’S EYES…
During the boat ride back, I asked how many people found CONE shells (and not ones they picked from the “lucky bucket”) and 19 shellers raised their hands. Wow!
I’m always so happy to meet families that shell together. Christine, Anthony, Paula, Bryce and Dominic (from VT and MA) were such a pleasure to talk to.
I asked Bryce what his favorite thing about the cruise was and he reminded me that together we saved a SEA HARE that got washed up on the beach. We put the SEA HARE back in the water and after a minute, he revived and swam away- that was his favorite moment. I asked Anthony what his favorites were and he immediately showed me his ROSE PETAL TELLINS (with 2 COCQUINAS as well).
Brooke and Josh from Georgia had favorites too… SAND DOLLARS.
Clark and I loved hearing Keri (also from the Sand Paper) tell about shelling bringing back so many memories of her childhood while shelling with her grandmother. I think that’s why we love it so much… we explore the beach like we are kids again and remember those days.
Thank you Captain Phil and Meg for such a great adventure!
I still can’t believe how exciting every moment was with perfect weather seeing DOLPHINS, ROSEATE SPOONBILLS, OSPREY, PELICANS, a SEA TURLE, lots of seashells and the best group of people Clark and I could wish for.
To make a fairy tale ending, on our way back to the dock we watched the sun set over the Sanibel Lighthouse…
It was a very special day to remember. Oh but wait… I still have more photos and I have just a few more things I want to share with you about this day on my next post. The surprises continue!
Thank you Sight Sea-R Cruises!
